Join entomologist Alaina Michaels, aka “The Bug Lady,” for a hands-on insect preservation workshop. Participants will learn how to pin and preserve a Rhinoceros Beetle inside of a terrarium. Landscape your own terrarium dome with a selection of dried plants, rocks, and soil. This fun, interactive workshop will provide you with all the supplies and knowledge needed to preserve your insect for display in your dome. Participants are encouraged to bring any dried plants, rocks, or accessories they would like to include to customize their display.

At the end of the workshop, each participant will take home their pinned insect along with detailed instructions on how to display and maintain their insect for decades to come. Specially geared for teens, our Teen Workshops offer an opportunity to engage with a variety of topics including history, the natural world, and STEAM principles.
